“Don’t wait for the stars to align. Reach up, rearrange them the way you want them to be. Create your own constellation.” – Pharrell Williams

(I’m not usually in the habit of quoting anything from Pharell Williams, he just summed it up so perfectly and I couldn’t resist.).

That one shoot (there’s always one).  That one that almost feels as if every single star in the universe has aligned for just one split second to make way for this very one thing.  This one was it.  If you’re a storyteller like me, you may just be able to relate. Don’t get me wrong, I’m pretty sure that there will be more (hopefully many more at that) but for the past six months this is the one that’s stuck. When Tess and I started planning this I just knew it was going to be epic! Their family dynamic is 100% juxtaposition to mine – girl gang, pink sparkly tutus and the cutest little ankle boots you ever did see, I was quite happy to trade my muddy wellies and nerf guns for a day of girl-gang goodness down by the sea!

Tess was one of my very first clients when we moved to Devon.  I met her when her eldest had just gone 1 and have since watched their family blossom into five! We’ve always stayed in touch and more recently, have worked together on projects with mutual clients as Tess is now a freelance model (check out some of her work here).  Tess is awesome at styling, she’s got a really great eye for it and styles pretty much all of her wardrobe and make-up for her shoots.  When she started sending me over images of what she had in mind for this shoot I was like a kid in a candy shop!  When they arrived on the day, with marshmallows and fire pit in tow, I was fully convinced that I’d met my bench mark for family life!

Thank you so much Lathey Family for choosing me to document these special, fleeting moments for you and I do hope that our paths may cross again in the not too distant future where we can do it all over again.

If you have an idea you’ve been playing with, or a unique concept for your own shoot and you’d like to get in touch to discuss it, please get in touch here! I’d love to hear what you have in mind!
