What started out as gloomy, rainy winters day ended with just as much excitement as a typical British summers day! I met Michelle & James and their two little girls down in Lyme Regis for their family photoshoot. It was beautifully chilly but there were still loads of families about, with littles in wellies and waterproofs paddling in the sea.
The McCowen family were a dream to photograph. I love it most when I am able to just stand back and document the moments that unfold when a family can just simply ‘be’ together without the usual contrived posing, which makes everyone uncomfortable, especially the little ones. Of course, I always do try to get the odd ‘look at the camera and smile’ photo, as these always make the best gifts for grandma and grandpa!
This photograph totally sums up the day, with beautiful little Bridget the star of the show. Just a few weeks shy of her very first birthday, it’s just so clear that Frances is absolutely smitten and already looks up to her big sister as the shining star she so clearly is! I love watching the different family dynamics at a photoshoot, as a mom of two boys I especially enjoy watching the bond between sisters as it is something I am not familiar with.
If having a family photoshoot is something you’ve been thinking about doing, I encourage you to go for it! Don’t be put off by the (seemingly always bad) weather or those few extra wrinkles you’ve recently noticed. I can guarantee with 100% confidence that your littles think that you are the most beautiful person in the world and when both you and they look back on the images a few years down the line, you’ll be so glad you did it! You can see my portfolio of family photoshoots here.
I do offer a full wardrobe advice service and assistance with your wall art gallery layout should this be something you wish to make use of. I love nothing more than framed prints and knocking up a few pretty Pinterest boards!
