The Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis is a prestigious venue with a history going back over 125 years to when the building used to be a sea water baths pumping water directly from the ocean below (WOW!) Currently, anyone in and around the South West knows the theatre well as being one of the best locations along the seafront!  When Katie first contacted me I was so excited to be able to shoot at this venue – they’ve only started doing weddings over the last few years.

Katie & Rob had planned to be married outdoors on the terrace with the beautiful seascape in the background. When the morning of the wedding arrived and the forecast was for bad rain most of the day, we were all a little sceptical as to whether or not their plans would go ahead. It was looking likely that they probably wouldn’t, with blustery winds and light showers all morning.  However, Rob and his groomsmen held out hope and waited until the very last moment and then as if sent from above, the clouds parted for just long enough to host the most beautiful, heartfelt ceremony.

I particularly love the moody atmosphere of the old theatre and the deep reds and golds and how that has been translated through into the images. I was a little apprehensive at first as to how the lighting would be on the day being so dark inside, but I feel like it is totally authentic to the venue and its history. Katie & Rob, thank you so much for choosing me to capture these priceless memories for you! It’s truly visible that the love you share for each other is forever and I wish you a lifetime of love, laughter and friendship!

I hope you enjoy looking through some of the highlights of the day! (Suppliers & vendors credited below).
